Charlotte Grange Care Home Celebrates 100th Birthday!
Community Integrated Care’s Charlotte Grange Care Home, located in Hartlepool, last week celebrated an extra-special 100th birthday! The dedicated team pulled out all the stops ensuring that their centenarian resident, Rose Caffery, had a birthday to remember.
Even Covid-19 couldn’t spoil her birthday celebrations, and Rose enjoyed her day with visitors, a singalong to her favourite hits and of course no birthday would be complete without cake!
Rose, one of eleven children, was born in Hartlepool on 22nd June 1920 – and has lived her whole life in the city. She has two children, a son and a daughter, and is now a proud grandmother, great grandmother and a great, great grandmother!
With current lockdown measures still in place, the team at Charlotte Grange ensured family members were able to visit Rose in a safe manner to celebrate her special day. Colleagues set up an outdoor meeting space, meaning that Rose was able to spend time with her family from a safe distance.
All Rose’s friends and residents enjoyed a buffet as well as cake, organised by Community Integrated Care colleagues, and Rose was delighted with the card she received from Her Majesty to mark the occasion.
To top off the day, there was a special visit from local charity, ‘Miles For Men & Walk For Women’. The group entertained residents with a mass sing-along, taking place just outside the home. Colleagues had requested Roses’ favourite songs, including ‘These Boots were made for Walking’, which she was delighted to dance to from the comfort of her armchair!
Wendy Nicholson, Service Manager at Charlotte Grange Care Home said, “It was wonderful to be able to celebrate Rose’s 100th birthday and help make the day as special as possible. The team at Charlotte Grange have all been working so hard at this difficult time to ensure that residents are kept happy, safe and well. It’s always lovely to celebrate the birthdays of our residents, but now more than ever special events like this are important for the morale of colleagues, the people we support and their families.”
Martin McGuigan, Managing Director at Community Integrated Care said, “It sounds as if Rose had a wonderful birthday, so a huge thanks to our colleagues for making the day so special! On behalf of everyone at Community Integrated Care, Happy 100th Birthday Rose!”
