Carlingwark House

Carlingwark House is a residential senior care home in the beautiful market town of Castle Douglas. With spectacular views of Carlingwark Loch and the surrounding Galloway countryside, we are proud to provide a comfortable home from home environment for each of our 30 residents.

 Care and Support

• We can support people with age related conditions such as dementia and also provide end-of-life care.
• We also provide respite and day care support.
• Residents each have their own individual care plan designed around their specific needs.
• All our staff receive excellent training and support.
• Carlingwark House has IIP (Investors in People) accreditation and strong links with The Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK and local advocacy groups.
• Residents can voice their opinions and help make decisions in the running of the home at our regular resident meetings.

Home Comforts

• Carlingwark House is at the heart of the community and within easy walking distance of local shops, churches, parks and transport services.
• All rooms have en-suite facilities complete with television and telephone points.
• Couples are accommodated for at Carlingwark House by converting rooms into a bedroom.
• There are no restrictions on visiting hours and friends and family are encouraged to be a part of life at Carlingwark House.

An Active Life

• All residents at Carlingwark House are supported to follow their own interests and hobbies.
• Residents can enjoy a range of activities, including arts and crafts, board games, bowling, etc.
• Carlingwark House has its own monthly newsletter, written and edited by residents. 
• The spiritual and cultural beliefs of all our residents are respected and supported with regular visits from the local clergy.
• We provide regular day trips to cafés, museums, the countryside and the coastline.
• We are actively involved with the local community, receiving visits from the local schools and community groups such as the Army Cadets and the Bat Conservation Club .We also arrange for guest speakers to visit our home, like our local MP.
• Carlingwark House is frequently visited by entertainers.
