CIC staged an inclusive football tournament at Aintree, Merseyside, this weekend, bringing together staff and people supported by our charity to play the beautiful game.
Sixteen teams made up of male and female players of all abilities descended on Aintree for the fun knockout tournament, playing exciting 12 minute matches. Participating teams came from as far as Leicester, Leeds,
Portsmouth and Gateshead, as well as nearby services in Liverpool and
Widnes.
Mark Darcy, CIC Director of Finance, said “The tournament was very successful and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We had hundreds of members of the CIC community taking part, cheered on by their friends, family, our staff and other service users.
"The games were inclusive and everybody played with great spirit and teamwork. It was a really exciting and unique event that celebrated talents and forged new friendships.”
Mark added “Players visited from all over the country and were particularly excited to be playing in the famous football city of
Liverpool, which is an area where CIC have a large number of services and is where our charity formed 22 years ago.”
