CIC sign the skills pledge.

CIC’s commitment to investing in its staff's potential was again demonstrated when our charity signed up to ‘The Skills Pledge’. The Skills Pledge is a government backed scheme in which organisations make a voluntary, public commitment to invest in the skills of their workforce.

CIC Chief Executive, Phil Edgington, signed the pledge on Thursday December 17th, committing CIC to developing the potential of all its employees by enhancing their basic skills and helping them achieve relevant, valuable qualifications. With government support, CIC will actively encourage and support its employees to work towards their first NVQ level 2 qualification  – the equivalent of five good GCSEs, grades A–C.

CIC Chief Executive Phil Edgington said, “CIC’s success is down to the dedication, enthusiasm and loyalty of our staff. Recognising how much they give to us, we are committed to making sure we give something back to them too.  One of the ways we can do this is through training.

We want to provide our hardworking and caring staff with real opportunities for development.  Therefore, CIC offers a range of courses and qualifications that advance our staff in their roles, providing a springboard for their personal and career growth.  Currently, well over 70% of CIC care staff have completed or are working towards an NVQ qualification, way beyond the care sector average of 50%. Signing the skills pledge is a formal commitment that CIC will continue to maintain the highest standards of staff development.”
