CIC appoints Simon Attwell as Chair.

CIC’s Board of Trustees has today announced the appointment of its new chair, Simon Attwell.

Simon has over 30 years commercial financial and leadership experience in a variety of private and public sector organisations and has been an active member of CIC Board of Trustees for six years (recently as Chair of Audit Committee). He steps into the role at an exciting time of CIC’s development as he has recently been joined on the Board of Trustees by colleagues from Manchester Care whose services joined the CIC Group last November.

Simon said, “Not for profit organisations bring something vital and unique to the Care sector. Over the last 6 years I have experienced the extraordinary passion and commitment of fellow trustees and staff in CIC as they strive to ensure the very best standards of professional care whilst keeping the independence and dignity of individuals at the centre of everything they do. It is a great privilege to be asked to take on the role of Chair at this time. We are just entering  the second year of an robust 5 year strategy developed during the chairmanship of my predecessor John Edwards and I know the current Board are enthusiastic about the further opportunities before us. We recognise of course that the care and health sector has many challenges to face over the coming years but CIC is well equipped to bring innovative solutions across a wide range of needs and locations.”

CIC’s CEO Phil Edgington said, “Simon Attwell has a wealth of experience in CIC governance. For me however, I am particularly inspired by his relentless commitment to the twin challenges for CIC’s continued success – the growth and development of a thoroughly professional, efficient operation whilst remaining true to its’s values as one of the largest, most innovative charitable providers in the care sector.

CIC are expecting to announce the  appointment of  a Deputy Chair of the Trustee’s Board in the near future. Phil added “We have a clear strategy for taking the charity forward and a committed team to deliver it,  so the introduction of this new position is a great opportunity to ensure the continuity  of  good communication between the Board of Trustees and the Executive Team.”
