Delivering a new model of care for people with physical disabilities
Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders have appointed CIC to run a new, community based supported housing service for individuals with physical disabilities in Todlaw, Duns.
We currently work with 9 Local Authorities in Scotland stretching from Morayshire in the North to Dumfries and Galloway in the South, supporting approximately 200 people across this region. Andrew Lowe, SBC Director of Social Work, said, "Community Integrated Care has many years' experience in providing top-class care to people with complex needs. CIC tendered a really impressive proposal on quality, delivery and value for money. We are confident that Todlaw will offer its residents the best in terms of care, independence and quality of life.” The new supported development, due to be completed in 2007, will provide 24-hour, community-based care and nursing to former residents of Marchmont House, near Duns. The accommodation at Marchmont is being replaced with a new purpose-built development at Todlaw. The housing development will provide a new model of care to best address the needs of those with a particular level of disability. John Glennie, NHS Borders Chief Executive, said: "I am delighted another excellent provider in CIC has been appointed. The new service will give a magnificent opportunity for the tenants to extend their independence and integration with the community." Rob Harper, Director of Services at CIC said “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen to run this new project at Todlaw, Duns. We have wide experience of commissioning new services in order to support people with all levels of need and disability in their own homes. “We welcome the new relationship with Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders. We look forward to providing person centred services for the tenants to promote their independence and participation within the local community.” Rob adds.
