Orchard House

Orchard House is a modern, purpose built Homelessness service based in Widnes, Cheshire. We provide accommodation, support, training and advice to homeless young adults aged 16 to 25. As a small project, which only caters for up to six people at a time, staff are always on hand to help with any problems tenants may face.

With spacious and comfortable communal areas, a large and enclosed garden and six private one room apartments, our home challenges all the negative expectations of homeless accommodation.

With Orchard House’s support, Liam Grimes found the stability he needed to pursue a qualification in music.

Liam Grimes has always been a keen guitarist, singer and songwriter, and was desperate to take his musical interests further. Unfortunately, he did not have the stable environment to fulfil his dream of studying music, until he moved into Orchard House.

“I’d always wanted to make my music more than just a hobby, so when I came here I signed up for a music course at the local college. This taught me technical skills and about the industry too, I loved every minute!”

With Orchard House's support, Liam has achieve a BTEC music qualification at a local college.“Coming to live at Orchard House has given me the freedom to explore my talents and learn more about myself. It’s also encouraged me to discover other interests, through college and meeting new people. I’ve discovered that I’m really interested in science and it’s good to know I have a backup, as it can be difficult to make a decent living in the music industry. Whatever happens, I’ll always have my love of music, even if it’s only as a hobby, playing gigs and tutoring others."
