Halton Goals

Halton Goals is based in Halton, Cheshire and provides homeless support to young adults aged 16 to 25. We offer supported accommodation, as well access to training and development. Our project is split between two sites, our main complex in Runcorn and a four bedroom house in Widnes.

Providing Support and Developing New Skills

We offer a range of support to people in our services:

  • Assisting residents to develop domestic, social and life skills
  • Providing emotional support
  • Offering advice and guidance
  • Providing support to access training and qualifications
  • Sourcing work experience opportunities

All residents at Halton Goals are assigned with a personal key worker. They work together to create a support plan, which helps clearly define their path to living independently.

Moving On

After a period of time at Halton Goals residents are supported to find their own accommodation. We have a core group of staff who are trained to help residents with all aspects of moving from the service to a new home.

To ease the transition to living independently we have 6 self-contained flats within the project. Whilst residents live here they are monitored to see how they cope with living alone.

Referrals

Referrals to our services can only be made via Halton Council’s ‘Housing Solutions’ team.  Housing Solutions can be contacted via the council’s 24-hour number: 0303 333 4300 or through Halton Council’s One Stop Shops.

    • Danny and Alice's story...

Halton Goals residents Danny McWilliam, 17, and Alice Davidson, 18, recently completed ‘Ministry of Food’ – a week long food education programme, inspired by TV chef, Jamie Oliver, and run by Halton Youth Service.

“I’ve always loved cooking, so as soon as I heard about the course, which was aimed at teaching young people how to make healthy and nutritious food from scratch, I jumped at the chance to take part,” explains Alice excitedly. “We learned so much; kitchen skills, how to plan a menu and the importance of using good quality local produce.”

The pair had to produce their own three course meal. Danny recalls “We decided to make carrot and coriander soup to start, rustic pork with all the trimmings for main, and a crème brulee for dessert. My suggestion of fresh fruit smoothies even got a special mention on the feedback cards!", adds a clearly chuffed Danny.

“I’m so pleased to have taken part in Ministry of Food; it was one of the best experiences I’ve had and it was great to get a new qualification to add to my CV”, says Alice. “It’s fantastic that Halton Goals gives us opportunities like this.”
