One of the most popular activities at the Rievaulx is our Gardening Group. Find out more...

Amongst the many activities at the Rievaulx is their fantastic Gardening Group. Service Users who are part of the Group have their own allotment where they are supported to grow a variety of vegetables, bedding plants, herbs and fruit. The project follows a structured course, and is specially designed to offer students agriculture and life skills.

Andy Hood, Senior Support Worker at the Rievaulx, explains, "Our gardening project is hugely popular and promotes nutritious diets, healthy lifestyles and exercise. It gives the people we support a better appreciation of nature and helps them develop new skills in a fun and relaxing environment."

Much of the fruit and vegetables grown the Group (including amongst many things – lettuce, beetroot, radish, tomatoes, carrots, and garlic!) is used in cookery classes at the Rievaulx, so everyone at the service can enjoy their healthy and delicious produce.
