  • Ongoing assessment and review of their needs
  • Skilled care and support appropriate to those assessed needs
  • Be involved in the process of making decisions related to their individual situation and continuing care
  • Take appropriate risks in pursuance of their chosen lifestyle
  • Have their privacy protected and confidentiality maintained
  • Participate in meaningful and valued relationships
  • Raise issues that affect their personal lifestyle and comfort
  • Participate in organised and individual activities within the home
  • Access community facilities and resources
  • Exercise civil duties and legal rights

Practice their own advocacy, or to be supported by a third party of their choice, or an independent advocate appointed if they are unable to choose one

  • Receive information about all services available to them
  • Receive support to manage their personal and financial affairs
  • Refuse aspects of care without prejudice
  • Have access to their own care records
  • Have complaints speedily and impartially investigated, and be informed of the outcome
