CEO Phil Edgington - Our 5 year Strategy
In January 2008 CIC trustees approved a 5 year strategy and business plan (2008-2013) for the Charity. This was developed through a series of workshops and consultations involving CIC Trustees and Executives. It was informed by a review of CIC's past, present and future aspirations but set within a context of changing public sector commissioning and an assessment of future care and support needs of the public we serve.
Having set the strategy we engaged over 300 staff across the country in distilling the practical steps necessary to build our annual business plans.
The processes for delivering the 5 year strategy are laid out in four services specific business plans and progress will be measured by our programme of KPI's. The 5 year strategy is published on CIC's intranet and is being actively communicated to every colleague in CIC.

Announcement from Simon Attwell, CIC Chairman

We are pleased to announce that Dr David Robertson, the founder of CIC has been made Life President of our charity.  The Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to invite him to take this position in advance of our first CIC national conference and awards event (on 1st December).

This is an ambassadorial role in recognition of Dr Robertson’s commitment and contribution to the CIC community. Dr Robertson founded CIC twenty-one years ago and held the position of chairman (1988 – 2003).  He was driven by the belief that people living in long stay institutions could lead better, fuller lives in the community, supported by caring, highly trained and committed staff in their own homes.   Simon said “His vision, inspiration and courage in setting up CIC, has set an example to us all and is reflected in the thousands of people whom he has assisted to achieve dignity in the face of institutional and personal adversity.”

Accepting this unique role, Dr Robertson said  “There is no greater honour than one awarded by your peers, they know from their own experiences how demanding the role of Chairman and Trustee can be and their recognition is greatly valued. I will continue to serve CIC’s best interests, supporting it’s Chairman, Trustees, staff and especially it’s Service Users.”
